Some tips from the Mental Magician to make your Birthday party run smooth.

1. With a dozen invited guests, you may get one or two last minute "no-shows."  You will definitely have a couple of stragglers show up a few minutes late. That's not a problem, just plan accordingly. It might be best to schedule the entertainment about 30 minutes into the party.

2. Children will better appreciate the magic show if they are able to follow along with all the excitement. Cake and sugar may make the little ones fidgety and inattentive. It may be more effective to have the entertainment BEFORE blowing out the candles.

3. During the show, a good Magician will ask the honoree to help with one of the tricks. This is the perfect time to have your camera ready! However, the birthday boy or girl may feel a bit shy about appearing in front of the other kids. If this is the case, pictures may always be taken after the show!

4. A few days before, you will contacted you as to specific details, and to see if there have been any changes to the itenerary. Perhaps an out door event is expecting rain that day, or the guest list has DOUBLED, and an alternate venue must be used. A good entertainer will remain as flexible as possible, but it is always a good idea to have a "plan B" in mind from the beginning.

5. If you hit a "snafu" along the way, run out of activity ideas, or feel a bit overwhelmed in the planning, give me a call. I may have dealt with the same problem, and have some advice. I'm here to help YOU!

 6. If you are need of magic themed "goody" bags, I have them for sale.
Well, let's not take ourselves too serious. After all, magic is suppose to be fun!
Some Magic Themed Games to Play.

The Wizard casts a Spell  Hand a music player to one child, and tell him or her that they are the "wizard". Play some upbeat kid’s party music and let the kids jump, jive and dance. When the music stops, they have to “freeze.” If the wizard catches them moving, they turn into a wizard and help to eliminate the other players. The last child dancing wins!

A Magic Surprise  Wrap an age-appropriate prize in 7-10 layers of gift-wrap. Have the kids sit down in a circle. Play some music and have the kids pass the prize around the circle. When the music stops, whoever has the gift can take away 1 layer of gift-wrap. Repeat until someone uncovers the last layer and keeps the magic prize!

"I'm Shrinking" Limbo Have the kids stand in a line. Play “Limbo Rock” (or another kid-friendly, upbeat tune) on repeat. Hold a bar parallel to the floor. Have the kids try walking under a bar by leaning backwards. After everyone has passed underneath once, lower the bar a couple of inches. If a child touches the bar or his or her body touches the floor, then they are out. The last player doing the limbo wins!
